The international scholar who would like to come to UCSB should correspond directly
with the department and/or a faculty member in the department with which they would
like to affiliate. The visitor will need a faculty sponsor to whom they should send
their curriculum vita for evaluation. If the sponsoring department decides to accept
the scholar, they will invite the international scholar to complete an on-line application
for the DS-2019 form that is needed by the scholar to apply for the J-1 visa. A
